Hi, all:
I just started using OpenSUSE last night. When I boot from CD and choose 'install' monitor gets turned off. The resolution auto-chosen is 1280x1024. I fixed this problem by choosing Text Mode. Anyone has same issue and how to solve it in future installation?
This may be the monitor protecting itself. If refresh rates of the video card are wrong for your monitor, some monitors just shut down to prevent damage. You will probably have to get the specifics of your monitor, and limit yourself to 1024x768 till you get this sorted out.
Another small question, I have Pentium 4 and gets all i586 packages installed. So which CPUs use i686 packages?
