I seem to get a version of this popular hoax from Nigeria two or three times a year! There is a copy of the original going around now that is coming from Sierra Leone. Two years ago there was also a version coming from Yugoslavia. I guess that criminals are still able to make money with it, since it remains pretty popular. They seem to have gotten my address from my ACM account. I have yet to get one that I could trace back to a SuSE list. The true-life novel "The Informant" by Kurt Eichenwald includes a bit on the early history of this hoax, and is a really excellent read. A lot like many of the best suspense and detective novels from Martin Smith or Michael Crichton, except that the only fiction in it is that the names of a few of the characters have been changed. I haven't seen a 419 for months; so it's probably nothing to do with this list. I just get the usual stuff: herbal tea, loan offers, garden swings, offers to enlarge bits of my body, italian porn (I think), holidays... -- JDL -- Check the headers for your unsubscription address For additional commands send e-mail to suse-linux-e-help@suse.com Also check the archives at http://lists.suse.com Please read the FAQs: suse-linux-e-faq@suse.com
