ok ...
i left 4GB of free space at the end of my disk after installing linux. i have three primary partitions and free space at the end:
/dev/hda1 /boot /dev/hda2 swap /dev/hda3 / free space
i run the NT installer and NT formats an NTFS filesystem as C: on the free space, and copies a bunch of system files there. then it asks me to reboot the system with no diskettes or the cdrom in. it says setup will continue when the system is restarted. so i booted linux again and configured /etc/lilo.conf to be:
boot=/dev/hda #compact # faster, but won't work on all systems. linear vga=normal read-only prompt timeout=100 # End LILO global Section
image = /boot/vmlinuz_2.2.17 root = /dev/hda3 label = 2.2.17
image = /boot/vmlinuz root = /dev/hda3 label = linux
other = /dev/hda4 label = dos table = /dev/hda
and i reran lilo
when i try to boot dos at the lilo prompt, it says its booting dos and hangs there.
is there a procedure around for installing winnt or win98 after installing linux? it can't be that hard ....
