Hi,
Not so, not in SuSE 7.0. I have found it neccessary to chmod 4755 kmix if the user is supposed to be able to read the mixer device. It was a change from how kde1 handled it tho...

Hi all, I just managed to install my soundcard... So thanks a lot for your helps. But now I have another problem: when launching KDE, I have an error message
Mixer failure kmix: Could not open mixer. Perhaps you have no mermission to access the mixer device. Login as root and do a 'chmod a+rw /dev/mixer*' to allow the access.
That's pretty fun, because it says it to me even when I AM connected as root... So I think that the problem is anything else that a permission problem...:) Anybody can help me? Romain
