Where in the boot sequence do you see the message? Do you see it before the LILO prompt? Do you see it after the kernel has been decompressed?
I get the same thing on a 5.1Gb drive, right before the memory test in POST - it happens on a Compaq machine., but not on my "home built" one. I believe it's generated by some intelligence on the hard drive, or else in the bios of the machine - I've been running with this error for 18 months and apart from it being a PITA with I reboot (you have to press F1 to continue), it seems fine.
