Sorry, I am still struggling with my GNOME what was damaged after an update on Friday. I get the error message in German, the corresponding English message is in this thread: http://lists.opensuse.org/opensuse-bugs/2007-05/msg01270.html There was an error starting the GNOME Settings Daemon. Some things, such as themes, sounds, or background settings may not work correctly. The last error message was: The name org.gnome.SettingsDaemon was not provided by any .service files GNOME will still try to restart the Settings Daemon next time you log in. Unfortunately, this thread contains no solution. Now I am looking for ways to make an update or reinstallation of GNOME - as far as possible with preservation of my settings. One way should be to deactivate all repositories except the GNOME repository and to make a zypper update. (I don't want to make a zypper update for all active repositories because I am afraid the amount of updates makes changes what are out of control.) But the first question I cannot answer for sure is: What is the GNOME repository or what are the GNOME repositories? I thought it should be simple to make a "zypper info" on some common packages like gdm, gnome-desktop or gnome-nettools to find out the corresponding repositories. But none of these packages shows the repository. The next step would be to find dependent repositories. Finally I want to make a zypper update. What are the GNOME repositories containing GNOME of openSUSE 10.3 or how I can find out these? How can I determine the dependent repositories? Will a zypper update result in a correctly refreshed GNOME? Thanks in advance. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org
