Same here. I still use a PS/2 KVM, in fact, and it works just fine switching between Linux boxes. On my Cybex switch, there is a 'configuration' option (entered through a hotkey combination the KVM uses) to tell it what kind of mouse is used. I *rarely* have an issue where the mouse will freak out if the KVM isn't set to the machine in question when it's started up - but even that doesn't happen every time. To OP's question - I don't know that connecting the PS/2 output from such a KVM to a USB convertor will help, particularly - the issue is the lack of signal continuity, IIRC, and a USB converter isn't likely to provide that. Then again, though, it might. I do have one of those on a system that has no PS/2 ports (Keyboard or mouse), and it does work fine.
