This is a funny question to answer. The problem with a "minimal" install, is that there are so many module dependencies. I.e., one rpm file is linked to another, and before you know it, you have loads of packages installed.
But, to answer your question, a minimal install would probably be the following:
1. no X display (so you can remove (more or less) anything that begins with X 2. you will not need anything from the K Desktop (so all that can go) 3. If you are not on a network, then programs such as "ident" can also go.
After I had gone through each group under the SuSE installation, I think that I had managed to whittle my final installation down to 87 packages.
I wonder how much you can do with aaa_base and nothing else. (Haven't tried it.) Paul
