Hi! I connect to Internet via a Zyxel Prestige 100 ISDN router, and have got it to work to go from my SuSE 5.3 installation. But sometimes it connects and then disconnect after about 5 sec. and I kind of have to start all over agin to make it connect, closing and reopen the window (KDE), to click on a link etc. In Win98 this never happens. Also noticed that pages open much faster in Win98 then in Linux KDE (from SuSE 5.3 CD). Any input? Also I wonder what actually differ as if I had a direct connection to Internet (if any) via a gateway/router, besides that the ISDN router makes a call to connect. The reason for this is that I plan to later set up a direct connection and like to make the later switch as painless as possible, like building a structure already now that I can continue to use... besides changes of IP adresses. I'm fairly new to Linux but done quite some networking with NT4/win95-98, but will now trash my NT4 server in favour of Linux. Will keep some win98 clients though for certain reasons. Even if it so far seams to be a bit slower to connect via Linux (may just be of KDE), its a great feeling get there that way. Any answers would be appreciated, thX-Mozilla-Status: 0009rom - Wed Nov 11 04:58:20 1998 X-Mozilla-Status: 0801 X-Mozilla-Status2: 00000000 FCC: /D|/Josch/Netscape/Users/josch/mail/Sent Message-ID: <36490B5C.3E599442@geocities.com> Date: Wed, 11 Nov 1998 04:58:20 +0100 From: Joakim Schramm <josch57@geocities.com> Reply-To: josch57@usa.net Organization: Astroglomania X-Mozilla-Draft-Info: internal/draft; vcard=0; receipt=0; uuencode=0; html=0; linewidth=75 X-Mailer: Mozilla 4.5 [en] (Win98; I) X-Accept-Language: en MIME-Version: 1.0 To: Jan Joop <nme2000@hotmail.com> Subject: Re: slow transfer References: <19981109130912.14355.qmail@hotmail.com> Content-Type: text/plain; charset=us-ascii Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit I am and been so busy with Linux that I havn't putted so much attention to Warez the last days, but I think I got the missing files in a dl from chichi's the other day. Thank you anyway... wasn't sure if was going to repost those files as I asked you. Finaly made it to connect to Internet from Linux today... feels great and well, it looks almost the same as from Win98 but anyway it feels much better. A lot of new things to learn though... like setting up a DNS server was quite something... but I guess thats mostly because one is so used to just point and click. But once getting into it, it is a great feeling, just to experience the multitasking and get rid of the fear that the whole thing may crash if I start an other thing... Have access to my box now via telnet, so ftp should soon be up I hope. It's most important for me to get my web domains up first though... before the memory of them vanish... tying in tuch, kung Jan Joop wrote:
Hi Kung !
The problem i got was corupted achives or CRC errors, but I then undrestood this probably had to do with me using netscape (4.5) for downloading. Apparently IE4 is the one to go for on that site... whitch is a bit unusal, it use to be the other way around.
I guess i have to DL it all once again... if it's still there... havnt had time to look into it futher yet.
If not I will upload it for you either to a tripod account or later on your new ftp server. I m not sure...do you really use Navigator or IE to download files ? Even if GetRight isnt so popular especially by people running ftp server this app is very cool. You can resume downloads!!and the most obvious advantage is that you almost never get any crc errors. But I think you know this app already.......
(The TrueSpace download also lacking of an installer but it works anyway, Omnipage was also OK, and ray dream studio I didn t install yet but i think it will work too)
What kind of app is Truespace, you said it was usefull? Also, i DL
Omnipage
from chichi, do you know if there is any differences from the one at Warezteam?
So far I haven t dealt any further with Truespace but a German Computer Mag wrote it is a very good 3D Grafix App..... I didn t have the time to get more into it....
I dont know if you are still interested in the Patch for Omnipage as somobody uploaded them already to chichi..... If you don t have them you can get them form my page. As the file has only 515 kb I think it is easyier to download it direct form the tripod account rather then transfereing them to geocities........but if you want the pwd this aint no problem but I first have to look it up cause I have so many accounts that I m not able to keep them all in mind...
shit as I not even knew the login name/url and I had to look it up....... you can now get both......
