Hello all,
For some reason, one of my partitions is MUCH slower than the others. Any other partition, even on the same disk, gives me speeds of 40-50 MB/s. This one however gives only 4-8 MB/s. This is independent of the partition being mounted or not. smartctl does not give me any errors, and fschk didn't find any problems either. Any thoughts/suggestions?
Is there a difference in the number of files, their sizes or how they are distributed across directories between this and the other partitions?
Not really, and since I use hdparm for the speed testing those factors should be irrelevant. I've got 5 disks in this machine, 1 of which is set up exactly like this one (same partition sizes), and that one works as advertised. All other disks also act normal; it's just this one partition on this one disk. Even when I test the speed from a rescue setup I get the same numbers. Regards, Pieter Hulshoff
