Hi everyone.
Is there anyway I can tell which device is connected to which /dev file? Like sometimes the cdwriter atteches to scd0 and other times to sr0. The boot messages don't give it any more it seems.
A very quick way, is to do the following: (as root): cd /dev ls -al | less This will then show you symlinks of any device files, and also point you to the symlink in question. thus: blah blah blah /dev/cdrom --> /dev/hdd is just one example (truncated).
