The problem comes from the monitor settings created by SaX2. If those ranges are too wide, it incorrectly thinks it can run 1280x1024@??, where ?? > 75 and apparently outside the monitor specs. Within SaX2 it is possible to manually set the proper ranges for your monitor though, so if you set it to a maximum of 75Hz (vertical refresh rate that is), then the problem should be prevented.
