Guys
I honestly think that opensuse should have a base system , ie KDE [ but lightened up] repositories built into YAST [ BUT NOT ENABLED]
I would like to see a bare- bones minimal SuSE Linux installation.
Something like the rescue system, with no X- Windows, and a decent editor such as mc. This would be an ideal base to build webservers, email servers etc on.

Keith,
We have the option in OpenSUSE already. When you have the option of what desktop you want select other and then the box next to it. You can have a minimum SUSE install and then add to it as you please.

With SLES I managed to get an autoyast install cut down to around 140 packages (and I was not able to remove anything else no more ). Personally I think that should be minimum. In total around 400 Mbyte. The current minimum set is too large for environments that require a base system installed and that's it. I know of places that do (even large ones). But then autoyast is good for that :D and the minimum set during a standard install is probably good for many paanthers out there.
