I installed Opera 8.5 on Suse 9.3 by just clicking on the downloaded rpm in Konqueror and installed with Yast. The things I like on Opera versus Firefox: 1. Zoom works with both text and graphics 2. Popup blocker works better in Opera (Every time I open Firefox, I get a popup. 3. It is faster 4. Does not open new window when downloading files, only new tab. Bad rpm.. Download it again.. Hate to say it but it does happen occasionally.

Mike - Thanx. As Francesco and Donn indicated, I needed to open a shell *as root* (big "duh" on my part) and then I did as you said and downloaded again. Worked fine.
I had used Opera with RH 7.1 a couple of years back or so. I liked it, but was annoyed by the ads. v.8.5 looks nice but so far I see no reason to jump ship from Firefox.
