So as long as the directory entries are being reused, not much space is "wasted"?
I may have not been that clear. As you add and delete files into a directory, the size of the directory entry will grow on an Ext4 or similar filesystem. The space is wasted in a sense, but a couple of megabytes is usually not an issue to most.
No, that's true, that's not an issue here either - I was out looking for reason why directory access seems to have slowed down over time, and just happened on this apparent anomaly. -- Per Jessen, Zürich (7.1°C) http://www.hostsuisse.com/ - dedicated server rental in Switzerland. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org
