[opensuse] 42.2 - Why don't icons stay put???

One thing I've noticed is that desktop icons have a bad habit of moving around after rebooting etc. At least in 13.1, they tended to stay put (but not always), if one properly logged out. Why do they move around in 42.2? In other operating systems I've worked with (Windows & OS/2), they always retained their position.
