I am a newbie and was put off posting because alot of what was written here went over my head. If anybody has got DB2 working under suse linux I would be very grateful if somebody could offer help/advice.
I had trouble with DB2 under SuSE and Slackware as well. The setup for it is horrible. That's a DB2 thing and not a general Linux/SuSE thing. I've been using Linux since '93 and now work for a Linux company so I'm by no means a newbie. In the end I find MySQL and/or PostgreSQL just fine for what I need, and under SuSE they're automatically set up. If you need something 'enterprise class', which is not as common as many managers think (they tend to overstate needs...), go for Oracle. They work with SuSE specifically to make sure that everything goes smoothly. I believe there's a page on suse.com (I can't remember where) specifically for Oracle support. - -- James Oakley Engineering - SolutionInc Ltd. joakley@solutioninc.com http://www.solutioninc.com -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Version: GnuPG v1.0.5 (GNU/Linux) Comment: For info see http://www.gnupg.org iD8DBQE7KiL6+FOexA3koIgRAsXsAJ4mvo9bhsymyGLW2TQfhTpjuxHaVgCglJ4D iiUmtIKApuefTC3iTySL/Jo= =b7oj -----END PGP SIGNATURE-----
