Hmmm. Have to take a look at that one. The perldap at Mozilla is definitely a WIP. Does Net::LDAP do all the certificate stuff one might want out of such a tool? I really don't want to say anything that is going to push people away from Netscape's open source effort. My intention is to promote interest in their efforts. I have been working with Netscape for a long time, and I like (most) of the company's ethic. I figure if I can get some other people to take a look at what they are doing I'm paying my open source taxes. Having said that I will take a look at Net::LDAP. In the real word we need candid and honest evaluation of competing solutions. As far as openLDAP goes. I glanced at it. It seemed to lack a lot of the features that Netscape's LDAP has. I will keep an eye on it, but since I get paid to make Netscape's products work, that is my main thrust. <A HREF="http://www.mozilla.org/directory/faq/perldap-faq.html"><A HREF="http://www.mozilla.org/directory/faq/perldap-faq.html</A">http://www.mozilla.org/directory/faq/perldap-faq.html</A</A>> Steve Jason Bodnar wrote:
There is a better perl interface called Net::LDAP (written by Graham Barr) I believe. It does not require you to build against any particular ldap libs which means you can start off with Netscape Directory Server or an old UMICH LDAP and then move to OpenLDAP if you wish. You can find it on CPAN.
