Just updated to KDE4.2.
No problems, the update went as smooth as silk.
No smoke from the computer so I guess everything *is* working as designed.
And now to see what changes have been put through since 4.2RC1 and earlier.....
Ciao.
Basil,
After you've got a day or two of real use under your belt, can you repost your status related to 4.2RC1
*IF* I remember :-) .
However, with 2 systems working well with 4.2 Final it would seem that nothing has regressed (at least from my point of view re what I use oS for).
I tried the factory KDE version about a week or two ago. It was a disaster, so I backed out of it totally and I'm now back to official release plus online security updates. (Don't know if there have been any of those or not.)
If you use the repos I mentioned in the earlier post(s) I think that you will find that you will get a very workable KDE4.2 - and even get to enjoy it! :-)
NOT quite right. The old problem with Intel graphics is back.....3D screen savers lock up the system tighter than a crabs hind end!!
