A couple of months ago, a UK magazine called "linux format" included a DVD with an already-compiled version of flight gear on it -- it "runs from the dvd", and does run on my SuSE 8.1 laptop [w/ATI video, no less!] Since I have the issue right in front of me, I checked -- it is the october issue. url: http://www.linuxformat.co.uk [note: they sell their magazine two ways: one with a CD, the other with a DVD -- make sure you find/get the DVD version, it has "more maps" or something...]
