Also, as of what version of MSO is OD support native? In particular in the just the last 6 months or so I've started receiving docx and xlsx docs on a routine basis, so if MSO 2007 supports it, I might follow your lead since the world seems to be assuming MSO2007 is generically available.
ODF 1.1 support was "officially" added to MS Office 2007 with Service Pack 2. It's support is incomplete, and at times it is implemented differently than KOffice or OpenOffice.org have implemented the same features.... as a result some docs - especially spreadsheets - loose information, data and layout (spreadsheets are most noticeable since MS Excel will do things like strip out formulas in some circumstances and replace with the last calculated value as a number) Right now, MSO users have better round trip results using the Sun ODF Plugin for MS Office. It appears that ODF support will improve with MS Office, but unlikely we will see that until the release of MS Office 2010... and even there, support will be the bare minimum.
