Normally, when you do an update or upgrade, it leaves behind a configuration file in the form of foo.conf.rpmsave, or foo.conf.YaST2save, but your sound system was probably too complicated for YaST2... Anyway, in your case, I think it would be better to disable one Intel Sound chip. How about this? 1. start pavucontrol 2. select "Configuration" Panel 3. select "Digital Stereo (IEC958) Output" 4. Click on the down arrow at the bottom to display the pull-down menu, and select “disable” If this doesn't work, try changing the "Digital Stereo (IEC958) Output" to "Digital Surrond 5.1(HDMI) Output".
