However, something on one of the threads made me think that I might have some old packages that have been held over from 42.2? I don't know for sure. So this is my question - is there a way to find out? All my repos are now 42.3 repos. I tried this command:
# zypper se -i -s * | grep System i+ | Desktop | application
| | noarch | (System Packages)
i+ | Desktop Containment | application
| | noarch | (System Packages)
i+ | KDE Plasma Desktop | application
| | noarch | (System Packages)
i+ | Kdenlive | application
| | noarch | (System Packages)
i+ | Show Desktop | application
| | noarch | (System Packages)
i | libwx_baseu-suse-nostl3 | package | 3.0.2-25.7 | x86_64 | (System Packages) i | libwx_baseu_net-suse-nostl3 | package | 3.0.2-25.7 | x86_64 | (System Packages) i | libwx_baseu_xml-suse-nostl3 | package | 3.0.2-25.7 | x86_64 | (System Packages) i | libwx_gtk2u_adv-suse-nostl3 | package | 3.0.2-25.7 | x86_64 | (System Packages) i | libwx_gtk2u_core-suse-nostl3 | package | 3.0.2-25.7 | x86_64 | (System Packages) i | libwx_gtk2u_html-suse-nostl3 | package | 3.0.2-25.7 | x86_64 | (System Packages) i | libwx_gtk2u_qa-suse-nostl3 | package | 3.0.2-25.7 | x86_64 | (System Packages) i | openSUSE-release-dvd | package | 42.3-1.202 | x86_64 | (System Packages)
I am just guessing on this one, that maybe things that are flagged as "System Packages" are items that are installed but are not registered as having come from any repository on my system.
Any other ideas?
Dave P has given you the answer for the specific packages you listed. From a process perspective though, I'm not sure your command gets what you're after (the last package in the list is legal, from the install media). Fwiw, after an upgrade I always find orphaned packages. It seems this mostly happens with 3rd-party repo's like Packman, but I've seen it with OSS packages, too. So after I have added back in 3rd-party repo's and updated packages owned by those vendors, I go into YaST and list the @System repo. Perusing this list looking for any in red, some of those will be OK (probably 3rd-party not in the current release but still may work) but some will be OSS or replaced 3rd-party packages. Marking the OSS packages for Delete (or searching on "Requires") will cause YaST to check dependencies; typically there are none and they can/should be deleted. Of course this process won't flush all files no longer used (I'm not sure that's even possible except with a clean install), but it does help keep the packages clean. --dg -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org
