hda2 won't be the compact flash can you run "cat /proc/bus/usb/devices" and paste the entire output in an email (it might be a page or so long, but itll be useful). if there is no reference to the usb cf reader in that output, then something is amiss - either the reader isnt supported in linux (unlikely but possible), or a module isn't being loaded.
