I agree.
SDDM likely detected an input device as a virtual keyboard source.

Please edit /etc/sddm.conf.d/sddm.conf (or etc/sddm.conf)
[General] InputMethod= EnableHiDPI=false
EnableHiDPI= Enables Qt's automatic HiDPI scaling. Can be either "true" or "false". Default value is "true". InputMethod= Set the Qt input method for the greeter. Tablet users with Qt Virtual Keyboard in- stalled can set this to "qtvirtualkey- board" for the on-screen keyboard. Other known values are "ibus" for the Intelli- gent Input Bus, or "compose" for dead keys support. Leave this empty if unsure.
[Theme] EnableAvatars=false
EnableAvatars= When enabled, home directories are searched for ".face.icon" images to dis- play as their avatars. This can be slow on some file systems. When disabled, all avatars will be default. Themes may choose to hide them altogether. Default value is true. Maybe it would be preferable to know what themes are available, get previews, and choose one. ThemeDir= Path of the directory containing theme files. Default value is "/usr/share/sddm/themes". Isengard:~ # ls /usr/share/sddm/themes elarun maldives maya Isengard:~ # They do have a preview. I just tried "maya", which is plain. The input fields are huge, though. "elarun" is tiny, maybe too tiny on the icons. "maldives" has a nice photo in background, the fields are reasonable sized, and the buttons have text, not icons. I'll keep this one. It doesn't matter much, this machine login is normally not touched in months, but not ugly and usable is something to have. The layout in all themes is "us" and there are no choices. :-? No avatars in any of them. Well, maybe if I put a ".face.icon" :-? I do have a ".face" in my desktop machine. They could make up their minds. Oh, dang it. I pressed shutdown by mistake, it doesn't ask. I wanted log out to see the small avatar. This machine is slow to boot up, it has 4 big external hard disks attached and a weak cpu. Buah, the maldives theme has no avatars. -- Cheers / Saludos, Carlos E. R. (from 15.6 x86_64 at Telcontar)
