It is interesting that the people who are in the business of making statements to the world, chose a web site of a linux publisher to hack with a political statement, , not one of the well known commercial publishers.
What I want to know is how? How did they hack the website, and should we be concerned that Novell, which is supposed to be so good at security, is slacking?
I didn't see the sight, however I get the "Login to Continue" error. I have no idea why on earth they would target a Linux web page. I also doubt that Iranians were involved, could be an attempt by someone to redirect attention. However, if indeed the sight was hacked, it does make me concerned.
There is a HUGE difference between hacked and defaced. I'm going to attempt to pop this into small little terms: When someone is defaced, that means someone got write access to the page, nothing more. Microsoft had this happen to them a few months back. When someone's server gets rooted, THEN you would worry. More than likely it was a few pissed off idiots who decided to download an exploit that allows defacement. And please don't take these morons as examples of most defacers. Some of them rock at what they do, like Fone_tone and Rafa, from WOH. -Allen.
