SMP kernel in 8.1 problems

Has anyone else had problems with 8.1's smp kernel? I am running a dual 2.8 Xeon Dell server and when running k_smp /proc/cpuinfo only shows 1 cpu and there are many many could not find module errors. If I switch to k_dflt then things work better nic works and stuff and no module errors but still one processor(which is to be expected when running a non smp kernel). Is this a documented problem or is some funny problem with the xeon's since they have hyper threading? Rob
