I tried this on Tumbleweed, it may or may not be a Suse or`even a Linux issue.
For USB tethering there is a switch to turn ON, once ON the comnputer is supposed to recognize it and net browsing may begin (the way I understand it no other action being required). I don't know if NetworkManager would show the usb cable or what?
NetworkManager will see a new network interface. What it will do depends on the interface type. For wired interfaces NM normally tries to autoconfigure them. Does a new interface appear when you activate tethering?
It shows nothing, and there is NO internet given to the computer (wifi hotspotting DOES work).
However, when I next turn the USB Thethering switch OFF then I get a popup asking if I want to allow the phone to share data with the computer. Clicking yes opens a file manager & data transfer becomes possible.
The first procedure is documented but doesn't work, the second one isn't but does.
Any ideas?
