I'm making good progress with getting a Media Center to run MythTV, but the arbitrary numbering of DVB devices after a reboot is a major nuisance (2 single-receiver cards, one dual-receiver with CAM). I guess I'll have to write some udev rules, but I thought I'd ask here just in case somebody's got a better idea?
Stupid GoogleMail not replying to list... Yes, there is a better way. The dvb module has an adapter_nr parameter you can set for each unique driver. If you have two different cards that use different drivers this is the best approach. I use this on my Ubuntu XBMC machine and it works perfectly with the minimum of effort. Just don't set an adaptor number above the maximum value of 5 (I think). For more details see the MythTV wiki http://www.mythtv.org/wiki/Device_Filenames_and_udev#Alternatives_to_udev_fo... Cheers!
