Perhaps a BIOS upgrade?
Hi Leen. I did think of that when I was having problems with SuSE 9.1 when I bought it in August. GRUB would hang on stage 2 after I had done online upgrades. I solved that by making a separate /boot partition of 20MB just after the Windoze partition. (I'd have tried that earlier had I realised how easy it is under YaST.) Then and now, Gericom's site only has what looks like the original BIOS: http://download.gericom.com/NOTEBOOK/EGO-MS1003/BIOS/ I went to ATI's BIOS upgrade site and got a dreadful automatic email offering me a BIOS for $24.95 which had all these wonderful features which the existing BIOS has already. Interestingly, the present BIOS might explain the boot problems I had - if you look at the technical data sheet: http://download.gericom.com/NOTEBOOK/EGO-MS1003/DATASHEET/ you will see that it says "up to 60GB" for the HD, which is actually 80GB, and I can see that someone has inexpertly changed it at the factory - it's covered in finger marks and the cover screw is a bit damaged. Anyway, I'll email Gericom and see if I get anywhere. I won't hold my breath. ___________________________________________________________ Win a castle for NYE with your mates and Yahoo!
