No, you would have the TIF creator to save in RGB color model. In PhotoShop under the Mac, go to Image/Mode/RGB Color. Then save as TIF.
This solved my TIF errors.

That's what I thought you meant - just wanted to make sure. Unfortunately I don't always have control over the makers of the tif and can't go back to them to ask them to change it. Thanks for all the help. At least now I understand the nature of the problem Regards, Jethro
