Hi I've been evaluating SuSE 9.1 by running the Live CD. I've been quite impressed by what I saw. I've got a firewire enclosure with 2 HDs in it: * 120Gb (master) 2 ext3 partitions * 20Gb (slave) 1 ext3 partition Under Mandrake 9.2 (kernel 2.4.x) and 10.0 (kernel 2.6.x) they're usually referenced as: /dev/sdb1 /dev/sdb2 /dev/sdc1 and I can access all partitions on both drives without pbm. When running the 9.1 Live CD I could access only the second HD (the slave one), the master is completely invisible. # cat /proc/scsi/scsi shows only the 2nd HD I believe it's a pbm related to multi-LUNs and that if I were to disconnect the 2nd HD and keep only the master one the 9.1 Live CD would see the master HD. Could someone let me know about the status of firewire in the current 9.1 kernel? Any plan to release a new kernel with improved firewire? I can do with only 1 HD in this enclosure but I'd be glad to know this pbm is being worked on. I'm thinking of switching from Mandrake to SuSE. Thanks for any enlightenment on the subject. -- Frederic Soulier <frederic@wallaby.uklinux.net>
