path

i just installed gnome2 from suse, thing did not go that good i noticed gnomem2 is in my path, i would like to remove it, i dont know how it got there i looked at /etc/profile and .xinitrc and there is not entry for gnome2 to be in the path. where should i be looking at or how can i remove gnome2 from the path witout removing packages
