OK, there has been a lot a talk regarding Windows Managers lately. Any thoughts on cdeSiM vs KDE/Window Maker?
I think it would make more sense to keep the Window Managers in one category: FVWM2, WM, E, AS, etc and the desktop environments in another: Gnome, KDE, etc. Cdesim (if I'm writing it correctly) is just a hacked fvwm to me. I don't like those cause to me they seem slower and clunky. I have AS, E, and WM, on board and like them all though right now I like E the best, and I'm following it closely because of it's connection with Gnome and the issues of compliance. I can't take KDE because the idea of booting into X and getting greeted with a Windows95 flavored interface makes me lose my cookies. No offense. Unfortunately, the ones I like; AS, E, and WM, have been going through a lot of changes and none of them have stabilized yet. I think I have to go back on my former criticism of E, which used to be crash-prone and damn ugly, and ackowledge that it is improving tremendously and may, for me anyway, BE the future. That lastest snap lacks some functionality, but it looks awesome, and the SPEED of E, now rivals WM. It's a HELL of a lot faster! Anyways, my view is try everything. It varies with the user. - To get out of this list, please send email to majordomo@suse.com with this text in its body: unsubscribe suse-linux-e
