Please help!
I just purchased a new computer, and tried to install my existing 10.2 SuSE.
But the Internet Test failed and I saw the above boot message. I don't have room
on my old computer to download 11.2,
Wow, no room for the 109MB for the net install ISO, you're really squeezing the machine pretty good.
and the box is still not available here in North America. Is there any way to get
MCP61 to work with 10.2?
Well, 10.2 is EOL (end of life) thus you are entering very much uncharted territory.
Can I add another ethernet card -- one that 10.2 does recognize -- and disable the MCP61?
That is probably your best option. You will not need to disable the MCP61 as it is not recognized anyway.
Can I configure the MCP61 with Yast?
Not if there is no kernel driver, which I believe there is not.
Do I need to install the forcedeth driver? If so, how?
Is the MCP61 onboard device supported in 11.2?
Looks like MCP61 support was added in the 2.6.16 kernel. openSUSE 11.2 uses the 2.6.31 kernel, you should be good to go. Robert
