I saw something similar the other day. I was typing in Pine inside an xterm, and suddenly, a key would repeat for a second even after I had released the key. At that precise instant, Firebird was busy autoreloading a large page with javascript. It happened several times. My system is single cpu, P-IV @ 1800. Using Gnome.
