I just finished downloading all of 6.4 via ftp. It actually took me longer fooling around with various ftp programs than it did to download the distribution :(
In the process of this I found that xftp ran consistently around 15k/s while gftp ran at 300-500k/s. Does anyone know why this is? I guess the advent of cable modems is showing the limitations of older programs. Even gftp crashed several times with segmentation faults.
I use them bothe and do not see any speed differences or seg faults. The only problem I have is that Xftp (the one I prefer) sometimes has trouble making a connection to certain sites. Thats when I'll break out gftp.
