I installed Xfree 4.2 on my laptop using the rpm-s provided form suse. Although I get an x-server and can run windowmaker , I cannot run kde. If I try to run kde after logging from the graphical Suse screen, I keep on returning to the logon screen without result. I f I try to run kde from a text console I get a message that "kmsserver cannot conncet to x-server" and "$Display is not set". I am running Suse 7.3 pro with the 2.2.4.18 kernel on a laptop with a mobility radeon chipset. Sax2 recognises the chipset as Radeol Ly and seems to be doing a good job in running windowmaker in the requested resolution of 1400x1050. I would appreciate any advice that would help me run kde successfuly . Thanks in advance Josef
