It's not magic or anything: Netscape simply trys to display unregistered mime types because it doesn't know what else to do with them. You can : A) Hold shift while you click on the link to bring up the dialog box B) Register the offending mime types with Netscape so it knows what to do with them in the future Aaron Seelye wrote:

I don't know. some http pages are like that too. i haven't seen any rhyme or reason to the way netscape works for downloading. for ftp though, i've been much happier with ncftp, no chance of a problem there :) .
