A thorough search of the Intel downloads pages failed to find a download source for drivers for the card GMA 4500MHD (or any other GMA cards). After several hours, I did find a remark that such drivers should be obtained from the download sources of ones own distribution.
Unlike NVidia & ATI, Intel puts its Linux driver efforts directly into open source, not proprietary drivers that need to be downloaded separately. If GMA4500 has been around longer than 6 months, what you need is probably already in xorg-x11-driver-video in the openSUSE repositories. If it's too new, you may want to join http://lists.freedesktop.org/mailman/listinfo/xorg to get the status or other help.
GMA4500, by the way, is for desktops. The MHD suffix is for laptops, "Mobile Hight Definition". Apparently not interchangeable.
Greets Stan :) Did you eventually get drivers working for your Intel GMA 4500MHD? Can you get your resolution up to the max resolution of 2048x1536 16M colours? Any HMDI [2] issues? I'm considering acquiring the Lenovo ThinkPad T500 Series Notebook NL37SZA [1], which has the same chipset mentioned. Your opinion && insight appreciated :) Stuart [1] http://www.lenovonotebooks.co.za/laptop-specification-sheet.php?laptop=28336 [2] http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1147885 -- Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org
