Linear flash pcmcia card

Has any one used a linear flash pcmcia card under suse? Googling has told me far more than I understand, but I see 2 conflicting stories about whether I can use the 2.4.20 kernel pcmcia services or whether I need to rebuild the kernel to use the external sourceforge package. On a standard SuSE 8.2 installation I find I have built in kernel services and also memory_cs.o module but when I tried to change /etc/pcmcia/memory.opts and insert the Pretec FA2008 card I get the following dmesg: iflash2_mtd: Card Services release does not match! memory_cs: Card Services release does not match! So is this a SuSE packaging mismatch, or have I misconfigured? If any of this means anything to you I would be very grateful for your reply. David
