It shows /dev/sda5:openSUSE 12.3 (x86_64):SUSE:linux /dev/sda6:openSUSE 12.3 (x86_64):SUSE1:linux So it is obvuiouly is detected by os-prober. Now could you explain what exactly "if I boot into 12.2 and run (2) above oS 12.3 on sda5 is not recognised in the btldr" means? You do not get openSUSE 12.3 in boot menu?
