Dennis and Eddie ... I have obsurved the same bug. You did a good job of characterizing it. Any ideas about a reliable way to report it to the resposnible entity? ... Reed, alta@alta-research.com On Sunday 13 January 2002 00:33, you wrote:
Thanks Dennis
Actually, I was not so much concerned about the timing out as the need to restart kmail. If I start kmail and then make an internet connection, sending and retrieving mail works fine. If I start kmail but forget to start a connection and attempt to send or retrieve, it fails. If I then make a connection and try to send or retrieve it continues to fail until I restart kmail. It would be nice if on failure kmail reset itself or had some way (a button or something) of resetting it without having to restart the whole thing. Maybe it is something to submit to the developers?

Could it be that your connection is timing out? If it is, set the time-out to longer or to 0.

Often when using kmail, usually while writing an email message, my connection to my ISP dies. I restart the connection but when I try to send or receive messages it fails and I get a connection error message. I have to close and re-open kmail to restore functionality. Is there a way around this? It's kind of annoying.
Thanks
