I've had a persistent problem recently with Yast 1 freezing the machine during Choose/Install Packages / Package information. My installation device is a SCSI CD-ROM, and Yast does seem to be making the initial access to the CD. The freeze happens when I do a search. Both the keyboard and mouse are dead, and the only way to recover is a hard reboot. However, if I use a different CDROM drive I don't seem to have the problem. I suspect that there's some kind of hardware difficulty because of the difference between drives. However, I don't know what kind of difficulty would cause that kind of freeze-up. Nor do I know how to check out whether the drive/CD combination is working properly. Any advice?
