On a new installation of 11.4 64 bit KDE desktopn with an M Audio 2496 soundcard I am not getting any sound output from any apps. neither do system sounds work. I have checked the mixer settings which are ok.
Is your onboard sound enabled too? Your card might not be setup as the default device. What is the output of: ,---- | aplay -l `---- If it is the default device, do you see any output in /var/log/messages when playing something? Also I presume the PCM channel is unmuted (since you say that the mixer settings are OK) and the correct modules are loaded- What is the output of: ,---- | lsmod | grep 1712 `---- Charles -- "MSDOS didn't get as bad as it is overnight -- it took over ten years of careful development."
