I have the strangest problem since last night. I have a web server up and running on a static IP. Nothing has been changed or edited in it for the longest time. The connection to the internet works, apache, ssh etc all work. It appears that the server and the connection to the internet is fine. However, the network behind the firewall is not able to get any http requests or pop3 requests what-so-ever! I have shorewall 1.4.8 installed and the rules that I have made used to work since last night. The rules set, has not been edited. When I ping the server, all is perfect. When I try to open the webpage, nothing happens. I do not get a deny but I don't see the webpage either!!!
I have a similar experience. Night before last an apache2 update was provided and since, I have not been able to navigate locally between the pages of my site. I can only access my site using 127.0.0.1 or 192.168.0.2, the web address wahoo.no-ip.org brings up the access screen for my router which is 192.168.0.1.
From outside my site access is normal and navigation as would be expected. It seems like the updated apache2 is not using /etc/hosts. -- Patrick Shanahan Registered Linux User #207535 http://wahoo.no-ip.org @ http://counter.li.org HOG # US1244711 Photo Album: http://wahoo.no-ip.org/gallery
