assign labels with mkfs/tune2fs/xfs_admin. Then put into your fstab entries like LABEL=srv /srv xfs defaults 0 0 Also they'll show up under /dev/disk-by-label udev makes these symlinks. I do wonder a bit if I didn't just respond to a troll post though. Sent from myPhone.

The assignment of /dev/sd* can indeed change dramatically, especially after system updates or hardware changes. If you're dealing with this issue and it's causing confusion or disrupting your workflow, you might want to look into persistent naming solutions like UUIDs or labels. Gee Thanks Henry,
I've been doing it wrong all these years. Persistent naming you say? Can you explain further?
Also I note you have a unique name and e-mail combination:
henry water <snick6176@gmail.com>
Traditionally "water" as a Sir name is "Waters" with the (s). We usually use the term "water" prefixed with either an adjective or adverb, e.g. "hard water", "soft water", "fast water", "slow water" or my favorite "fire water".
Also hard to see how "henry water" relates to "snick6176". Could you share the etymology of both if you don't mind.
Glad to see your account is working "henry" welcome to the list....
