I have my sources James! ;-)
There was mention of it on the OpenSuSE list just today. As I mentioned, yes it is the Professional, since that is all that will be released now. Only one box, all others have been eliminated. So, in comparing it to the past Pro releases, it is cheaper, but as I mentioned the previous Pro boxes had a printed Admin manual as well as a sources DVD. This time neither are included.
What is included: One User's manual One quick start 5 CDROMs 1 dual layer DVD with both 32 & 64 bit binaries
Does that sound like the Professional we've been getting? Sounds more like the Pro Update package with one less DVD, doesn't it?
At first, I was thinking this a showstopper. If I have to download 1 DVD, why pay for the boxed set. If I have to go through the trouble of downloading and burning 1, it wouldn't be $59 worth of harder to do 2. Then I started thinking. Wait, when have I used the source cd? I have to always install the source for my kernel (nvidia drivers, etc.) and most of the -devel packages for the things I use. Are any of those things on the source cd? As long as everything I use in on the 1 DVD. glad to pay the $59 to avoid the download / burn. I've purchased every version of SuSE since 6.3. I used to subscribe to automatically get the next version, but they decided that wasn't worth the automatic profit/admin (I guess, seems silly to me). I hope I can still get the convenience of spending my companies money. B-0
