In the previous thread, you (James) said that "It's (abiword) in APT as abiword". All I can find is abiword-clipart, abiword-plugins-impexp, and abiword-plugins-tools. I could not find just abiword. I'm wondering if I'm missing a source. Is abiword in the ulb repository or do I need to get it somewhere else?
It's definitely there, I can see it...
I still can't see it. I'm using Synaptic and I remembered to search up and search next. Nothing. Here's what I have in my sources.list. Do you see any errors in them? Is it possible that Synaptic is missing it for some reason? Here's my sources:

Don, you can use this http://linux01.gwdg.de/apt4rpm/home.html#contents to determine what's is available in the apt repository. -- Richard Bos Without a home the journey is endless
