Alas, I am writing this at work on IE6/Windows 2000 (not very busy!) so I can't check, but I am sure there is an option to change these icons within the desktop menu structure in Gnome - maybe in desktop preferences or gdm-configurator (face browser option).
The GNOME menu entry is Applications > Desktop Preferences> Advanced > Login Photo under ULB GNOME, the specific location under preferences in a SuSE-supplied GNOME install may be slightly different, as we patch GNOME-VFS differently :) If you want to just run the command it's gdmphotosetup -- James Ogley james@usr-local-bin.org GNOME for SuSE: http://usr-local-bin.org/rpms
